When you are in dire need and the storms of life have surrounded you, where do you go first for help? When you feel down and demotivated, where do you go first to get your spirit uplifted? The answer to these questions will reveal whom or what you worship. Everything that you depend on above all else becomes your god.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
God is an all sufficient God. He is and He has everything that we can ever need in life. Therefore, we should always run to Him in worship. You see, in life there are many things that try to take the place of God in our lives. Money, entertainment, self, drugs, job, family, even ministry. These things try to make us feel we can not have satisfaction without them. Once they convince us this way, they become idols. And idolatry is sinful and dangerous.
To develop total dependence on God, we simply need to acknowledge who God is in our lives. And continually pour our hearts to Him in surrender. Make it a habit to always acknowledge your limitations and His illimitations in your daily prayers, otherwise, we will develop confidence in something else other than God alone.
The beauty of this is that when we totally trust and depend on God, He will come in and direct our paths. We will be assured of success in our journeys because we have made Him the God of our lives.
