We all have a way of adding a little self-care into our schedules. But for some self-care is never in their dictionary. It can be in form of buying beauty products to satisfy inner self. Looking at the beauty products one would wonder which products are best. The face is like a reception; the first thing people see when they kook at you. So it is very crucial to maintain it with excellent products. The story of a UK based Malawian lady who owns her own makeup brand – FKay Cosmestics.
Her name is Fanny Nhlane Kabaghe, 38 years old lady. Second born daughter to Dr Martin and Ephrina Nhlane. Wife to the most loving man, her childhood sweetheart Martin Kabaghe, whom has known for 23 years, and been married for 18 years. She has 3 beautiful children. Fanny is also an accountant by profession.
The 38 year old Spent a year at the Manchester International Beauty Academy (MIBA) from 2017 to 2018, obtaining extensive knowledge of the beauty industry. She gave up her accounting job to focus on her family and her vision as an entrepreneur.
Fanny owns multiple businesses and she has years of extensive knowledge and experience as an entrepreneur. FKay Cosmetics was officially launched in 2017 with over 50 makeup and cosmetics products lines; some of which are: Liquid and cream foundation, concealer, powder, lipstick, eyeshadow, makeup pencils, lashes, cosmetic bags and cases, setting spray, primer, contour kits etc.
In 2020, FKay “The Warm Heart of Africa” range featuring 4 highly pigmented eyeshadow palettes called Malawi, Mzimba, Lilongwe and Blantyre. These names were inspired by her roots and background as someone who was born in Malawi.
Fanny believes that FKay products meet the needs of every woman, especially those who value and invest in their beauty. She believes in the notion that says, “ you invest in beauty to get beauty “
How safe are the products
“FKay products are cruelty free – meaning not tested on animals. They`re vegan, mineral and paraben free. They are very kind to the skin. We have a variety of shades to suit every woman, especially the African/Malawian queen”. Fanny highlighted

Being in the makeup industry for so many years and dealing with different brands led to the passion to invest in a quality high end Malawian brand. Something Malawians and Africans can take pride in as their own. FKay Cosmetics cater for women of different races, colour and background. The perfect product for her African complexion.
On top of this Fanny’s family has always been a source of motivation. They push her ahead and motivate her always.
Challenges
“Most people are not familiar with the concept of “promote your own”. FKay Cosmetics is a top quality Malawian brand. Other people’s mindset is yet to change and align with our vision. When FKay prospers, Malawi prospers!
5 years from now
Fkay Cosmetics will be better, bigger and broader. Fanny sees it established in more African countries, department stores in Europe and beyond. Fanny believes that FKay Cosmetics will create jobs and business opportunities for many Malawian. This year FKay will be launching a few more products and shades. “Makeup has never been a one size fits all category. For me it represents a journey of self discovery and more!
One of the quotes that inspires her going is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.“ Philippians 4:13.
Advice to young people out there
The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether you win or lose you have applied the best of yourself to the task at hand.
Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.
And lastly, winners never quit and quitters never win!
